1987 was the year of foundation of the Wewalka company by Johann Wewalka in Sollenau Austria, as a producer of cream and pastry products. Even then all of the doughs we prepared for our delicious, fresh pastry products were of the highest quality.
In 1990 Anton Gsellmann took over the company. It did not take him long to realise that high-quality, fresh doughs truly help homemakers to save on time and energy.
In 1994, following intensive development work, the very first Wewalka fresh puff pastry, rolled onto baking paper, rolled off the line in Austria. Austrian consumers were highly enthusiastic about the time it saved them and how easy it was to handle. From that moment on, the variety of different uses knew no bounds. The popularity of the products motivated us to develop other types of dough.
In 1998 fresh doughs from Wewalka were exported for the first time, to Germany. And the triumphal march continued…
2000 – today. To this day Wewalka remains a family-run company. The high product quality and assurance of success of Wewalka fresh doughs have made our customers, in the meantime in almost 30 countries of the globe, believers. The time saved in the preparation of valuable and tasty food, precisely meets the demands of modern man.
